Recent catastrophic events throw the work of Hart and Banner into sharp relief Members of leading NGOs, charities and missionary organisations met at The Royal Overseas League in London last week as guests of Banner Financial Services, to receive a presentation from Baroness Caroline Cox on the work of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust [HART] she founded in 2003. HART is contributing aid to Burma – one of many programmes HART have implemented across the globe - as part of the relief operation there, and Banner’s emergency insurance cover has been instrumental in ensuring organisations like HART can keep full time personnel on the ground, carrying out their crucially important work. Speaking before the presentation Lord Alton of Banner Financial Services expanded on Banner’s role in underpinning humanitarian efforts; "Banner continues to provide crucial support for men and women working in some of the most remote and dangerous parts of the world. No organisation should send its personnel into these hot spots, prone to conflict or natural disasters, without ensuring that there is adequate medical and travel insurance cover to provide for every contingency. Banner's impressive track record in providing this specialist cover to people working in remote environments has saved lives and won it many friends. I hope that we will continue to build on its impressive reputation in the future." Lady Cox went on to deliver a thought provoking and inspiring talk on the work of HART in providing aid and advocacy for people in need; those often suffering from the effects of war or the aftermath of conflict who tend to be ‘off the radar’ for international media and other aid organisations. Lady Cox said: “We are committed to working with local partners to enable them to make a difference for their own people. HART makes every endeavour to be a ‘voice for the voiceless’ for those who may trapped behind closed borders, not served by other major aid organisations, and who tend to be unreached, unhelped and unheard. Currently we have programmes in various locations that include Burma, East Timor; Nigeria, Sudan, Northern Uganda, India, Nagorno-Karabahk and Russia.” Guests included representatives from Save the Children, The Salvation Army, Birdlife, Mission Aviation Fellowship and Global Connections amongst others. Banner Director Robin Williams went on to say; “We are delighted to support the essential work of HART, and I believe our work together amplifies not only the benefits of Banner’s extensive product range, but also the practical experience we have of working with organisations operating overseas in difficult circumstances. My team is continually developing flexible, tailored insurance policies and products that answer the bespoke requirements of the NGO, charity and mission aid sector.” |
